Crime Stories

I have been approached to upload this web page on crime stories to help those good people who are still sitting on the proverbial "fence" of indecision.

Many of us go about our daily lives (as we should if all was normal) submerged in the chores and stresses of life's demands and give little (serious) thought to our vulnerabilities and threats.

The well known fact that you can boil a frog in water if you start by placing him in cold water then slowly increase the temperature until he is boiled and dead is truly applicable to people, only substitute the water with crime.

Crime has been steadily increasing and our psyche has slowly "accepted" this as normal.

Hearing about crime has become boring!

UNTIL YOU ARE A VICTIM!!!!!!

Now pretend that the attacks you will read of here is personal, what will you do?

The stories which will be told here are only a very small proportion of the reality in South Africa.

The stories are told as facts of the case and do not pretend to be politically correct, for, in essence, murder and rape are not politically correct either!!! So if a white thug attacks a black person we hear and read about this in the news media and so it should be for both sides!

Today (29th July 2009) I heard a firsthand report of a sixteen year old white girl in JHB

being raped by a black man who held a gun to her head, she was walking to school with her boyfriend, he was told to rape his own girlfriend in front of this thug, but could not, so she was raped and afterward he forced his penis into her mouth!

How would you feel if this was your daughter, wife, sister, mother???

Again today I was emailed this story...

what I have to relay didn't happen on the Bluff BUT it can happen here as well if people continue to stick their heads in the sand.
My close friend, in her early 60's, whose husband died last year, lives in Berea West in a cul-de-sac and so she and her neighbours thought that they were relatively safe apart from some petty crime.  Most of them have dogs on the property.  On about the 5th of June at approx 4am the robbers smashed through her lounge sliding door before she could react a gun was shoved in her face and she was told to NOT attempt to push a panic button.  The house was ransacked and just about all of real value was taken; including her motorcar.  She tried to conceal her house keys and was promptly pistol whipped for her trouble. Luckily her car was found 2 days later and was able to be driven. Traumatised but determined to not be driven from her home she beefed up her security - beams all round the house etc.  Dogs sleeping in at night instead of out.  On the 24th of July at 4am she was awoken to the sound of her alarm going off, and despite this they were smashing through her door AGAIN.  She promptly locked the interleading door and hid with her dogs in her bedroom.   No trouble to them they then smashed through her bedroom window. Hit her over the head with - we think a rock - and demanded her car keys.  She said that she didn't have them and then the security guys arrived and the 3 thugs bolted.  She has had 7 stiches in her head and has now abandoned her house too traumatised to stay any longer.   I thought that I would share this with you perhaps it will resonate with people and get them to join your efforts of having street unity and looking out for each other. So that they can react when someone is in trouble, the scumbags know that it will take about 4-5 min for the security to arrive so within that time it is vital for neighbours to be actively helping.  We NEED to get rid of the crime before its too late.

Do you feel safe in your home? do you realise the level of force being used to gain entry to homes? Have you spent the money on the PROPER EFFECTIVE defences?

OR are you waiting to see if this is really happening, then rush out in a panic and find the cheapest quote you can to defend your home?

EVERY SINGLE DAY in this country and very close to you, we are being attacked and brutalised and there appears to be no effective justice or detterent?

Until COPS, that is...

Reported in the Highway Mail this week (28th July 2009), two elderly ladies in their 80's were attacked and beaten, here is the story from Jason Van Deventer the Reporter...

THEY came in while their aged victims slept, waking their prey by holding knives to their throats.
It reads like a chapter  from a horror novel. But this was a nightmare come true  for two elderly Waterfall residents when they became the latest victims of violent attacks on aged upper Highway residents, on Monday afternoon last week.
The two victims, aged 82 and 87, were so traumatised by the attack that they are moving out of their Link Road home to Pinetown. For fear of a further attack they did not want to be named.
The attack by two thugs took place while they were asleep in their beds during the early afternoon. The intruders broke into their home and headed straight for the sleeping women.
The 82-year-old woman said: "The one guy, who was wearing a scarf, woke me up and I asked him what he was doing. He began pounding at me, hitting me in the face and body. He threw me off the bed and grabbed my chest with his legs and it hurt a lot."
The frail old woman’s  chest was so badly bruised she could barely talk. Her face, beaten so badly that one of her eyes is nearly swollen shut,  bears more purple and brown marks than her own pale skin.
Her housemate, an 87-year-old woman, was more fortunate as her attacker said he would not touch her. "They stole jewellery, a cellphone and a few rand," said the older woman.
The 82-year-old who, despite the more than a dozen bruises, smiled as she described how her savage attackers had left half the cake they had taken from the home. "They only ate half of it and left the rest on the kitchen counter.
"We were  locked into our rooms and tried to pull out the burglar guards so my housemate could climb through, but we eventually found the spare room key, and got out," said the woman.
On Monday 27 July the 82-year-old was admitted to intensive care due to a punctured lung and fractured sternum.
This brings to three the number of brutal attacks to elderly Highway residents    in recent weeks. In a brutal attack a   92-year-old Waterfall man died after being hit with a pipe. A 62-year-old Gillitts resident was also abducted and murdered.
Police are investigating a case of house robbery and assault.

What should be done to and about criminals/terrorists of this nature?

We see the astronomical rise in these attacks, yet we, in a punch-drunk stupor, sit back and hope it will go away?

We appear to be powerless, helpless, defenceless, frozen dummies caught in a ring of violence just waiting for our turn?  Are we frogs?

Or what?

Send your suggestions of how we can unite against crime as a force with an army of honest citizens ready and willing to stand our ground, to exercise our right to a safe and secure life.
