Security and
the law are not always in agreement, yet
it pays to know the law!
Over time we
will build this page to better inform
the public of the law as it pertains to
pertinent issues surrounding security.
Much
consternation and some confusion exists
with regard to the law and guns. Here are some worthwhile documents to read.

(definitions of a firearm) chapter one section 5
deals with airguns, antique guns etc.
also see how the peppergun is described!
Please note,
that whilst the law also states that
paintball guns are not firearms by
definition, the use of paintballs is the
criteria, a soft paint-filled ball, NOT
a hard-cased plastic OC powder-filled
ball is understood to render the
paintball gun into this catergory. If
one is firing a pepper ball, then the
definition "paintball gun" is rendered
invalid!
Here is a
copy of the wording of the above doc.

COMMENCEMENT: TO BE PROCLAIMED]
(Unless otherwise indicated)
(English text signed by the President)
ACT
To establish a comprehensive and an
effective system of firearms control;
and to
provide for matters connected therewith.

(a) device manufactured or designed to
propel a bullet or projectile through a
barrel or cylinder by means of burning
propellant, at a muzzle energy
exceeding 8 joules (6 ft-lbs);
(b) device manufactured or designed to
discharge rim-fire, centre-fire or
pin-fire

(e) barrel, frame or receiver of a
device referred to in paragraphs (a),
(b), (c)
or (d),
NOTE:
We DO NOT fall under American
firearms law, so beware of what you buy!
There are
unscrupulous traders out there telling
the innocent public that a paintball
launcher is a pepper gun?
ANY OTHER SO CALLED WEAPON OF THIS
NATURE IS IN VIOLATION OF THE PATENT AND
SOUTH AFRICAN FIREARMS LAW!
EVEN A CATAPULT THAT LAUNCHES A PEPPER
BALL IS A VIOLATION THERE IS NO
COMPROMISE!
BE SURE YOU OWN THE GENUINE ARTICLE
FAILING TO DO SO COULD SEE YOU FORCED TO
OBTAIN A FIREARMS LICENCE OR RETURN YOUR
ARTICLE OF PURCHASE TO THE STORE.
PAINTBALL LAUNCHERS WHEN USED AS A
PEPPER BALL WEAPON ARE JUST SUCH A
VIOLATION!
IT IS NOT WORTH THE FEW RAND SAVING!!!
NOTE: FOR LEGAL REASONS,
LET'S KEEP IT LEGAL! |
